Team In Training

Guess what guys?

I officially signed up for "Team In Training" today. I'm either going to run the Long Beach 1/2 marathon or the Nike Women's 1/2 marathon in San Fran. $2400 to raise though... DANG! That sounds like a lot (it's even more for the Nike one). But it's something I've been thinking about doing for a while.

Oh yeah baby.

Morning Run

Today I got up early and ran before work for the first time in a long time. I kept track of how many laps I was doing with my cellphone, but then accidentally deleted the info before I got a chance to look at it though. But not to fear, I figured out that I must have ran 6 laps (from previous data). Pleasant surprise though because I would've guess 5 laps max.

Anyways, here are my results (fastest run thus far)...

Pre-flu run

Luckily I ran on Tuesday this week, because Wednesday I got sick and I'm still sick. It was 28 min and probably about 2.5 mi. Ran with Emily - she's gotta get back in condition for that triathlon!

Yesterday (Sunday)'s Run

Yesterday morning I ran for the first time since the Carlsbad race. It was hot as hell...

Hawt Run

It was quite a hot weekend, but after Korean BBQ for lunch, I had to get out and move around a little. Did a 30 min run with ES once the sun went down. Still, it was super hot.

CARLSBAD 5000 5K RACE

Ran the Carlsbad 5000 in San Diego this (Sunday) morning. Here are the results of my worst 5K time ever...
-bib #1778
-chip time: 25:05
-clock time: 25:21
-overall: 618 out of 1210 total runners
-sex place: 429 out of 637 male runners
-div place: 181 out of 267 division runners
-age grade: 51.4%
-pace: 8:05 min/mile

Don't know what happened... I felt like it was a good race throughout... I totally hauled ass at the end and started off slow and steady. This was the first time I used the Nike+Ipod during a race... I think maybe I should buy a big old timer so that I could see the minutes pass as I run... I listened to a Podcast during the race to change things up... I didn't have my pizza beforehand, but rather a bagel and bananas for breakfast... had one of those Accelerade gels 15 minutes before the race (steroids).

Anyways, still glad that I did it. Now I need to just make sure my scores don't get worse. What is going on!?!

Friday Morning's Run

Hey man,

So I ran on Friday morning before work. Didn't get a chance to post until now, since Friday and Saturday and even today have been non-stop.

Anyways, it was good to run in the morning again before work. I find that listening to my Creative Screenwriting podcast helps and might even be better for me to run to instead of music. Hmm, weird.

Yesterday Morning's Run (Tues 3/11/08)

Didn't get a chance to post this until now... anyways, yesterday morning I woke up at 6:30AM and then did some running at Drake Stadium. Yes, it was before work! I've always wanted to run before work or school or something, but it's just too hard sometimes. With this new job, my hours are consistent so I just woke up about an hour earlier and ran. It's definitely the earliest I've ever run in LA, maybe even ever! HAHA no seriously.

Funny cuz I felt energized before work that day and was talking about it with a co-worker. I found out today that she ran this morning because I had done it... she said she felt "inspired"... muahahah, I'm awesome.

Also NOTE: For some reason, my IPOD didn't adjust to Daylight Savings, so it says that I ran at 6:16AM when I really ran at 7:16AM.

Anyways, I didn't run this morning, but I plan to run tomorrow (Thurs) morning. Yay!

Ahh Freedom

Today, I got up early and ran earlier at Drake... there was a team there but they didn't hog up the track with hurdles and demands to go into different lanes, etc. so I got to run in one lane and stick with it.

Stupid Track Team

I ran 9 laps today, but first in lane 3, then lane 1, then lane 9... the stupid track team kept moving me. The place is supposed to be open to the public M-F before 1pm before their practices, but they think they own the place. They're annoying.

Anyways, had a good run though today. I listened to a podcast instead of music and I think it was better for my running.

Also, I'm not sure why the widgets won't work anymore. They were working for a while, but then Nike decided to mess things up.

A run day

33 minutes, 3.0 miles = 11 min/mi Wasn't in a huge hurry, honestly. Just wanted to get out there.

BTW, Andrew, I can't see the graphs of your runs. Are you sure you're copying the code right?
It says, "this widget needs and update. regrab the code from the website" - something like that.

Longest Run of 2008

I ran 9 laps in Lane 5 today... during the run, I accidentally paused the workout but then "quickly" resumed it. I don't know how much that affected things.

Rain Run today, 19.5 min / 2.4 mi = 8.1 min/mi

Unbelievable! >:|

GRRRRRRRRR...

When I got to Drake Stadium today, I noticed that it was a little cloudy and cold. It did not look like it was going to rain, though. Anyways, I stretched and stuff for a while... and then right when I was untangling my headphones to start running, it started to drizzle (slightly). I was like what the fuck? It seriously did not look like it was going to even drizzle. Anyways, I started running, and by the time I was 1.5 laps into the run, it was raining HARD. I was soaked. My iPod case is a piece of crap and it's not waterproof either. My bag was soaked. Everyone left the stadium and I only got ~2 laps done.

Each quarter in my meter is 8 min (sucky, right?). I had put down 48 minutes in the meter... when I got back, it read 27 minutes still left! GRRRRRRRR!!!!! That's at least 3 quarters down the drain!

And even more importantly, I wasted that time getting ready, driving down there, putting money in the meter, etc... only to get me and my stuff wet and not do a good run.

Needless to say, I was pissed. By the time I got back home, the rain stopped and it was sunny... FUCK!!!

2 laps in Lane "8" (I ran in lane 9 and weave in and out of stupid track equipment, etc.)
