Unbelievable! >:|

GRRRRRRRRR...

When I got to Drake Stadium today, I noticed that it was a little cloudy and cold. It did not look like it was going to rain, though. Anyways, I stretched and stuff for a while... and then right when I was untangling my headphones to start running, it started to drizzle (slightly). I was like what the fuck? It seriously did not look like it was going to even drizzle. Anyways, I started running, and by the time I was 1.5 laps into the run, it was raining HARD. I was soaked. My iPod case is a piece of crap and it's not waterproof either. My bag was soaked. Everyone left the stadium and I only got ~2 laps done.

Each quarter in my meter is 8 min (sucky, right?). I had put down 48 minutes in the meter... when I got back, it read 27 minutes still left! GRRRRRRRR!!!!! That's at least 3 quarters down the drain!

And even more importantly, I wasted that time getting ready, driving down there, putting money in the meter, etc... only to get me and my stuff wet and not do a good run.

Needless to say, I was pissed. By the time I got back home, the rain stopped and it was sunny... FUCK!!!

2 laps in Lane "8" (I ran in lane 9 and weave in and out of stupid track equipment, etc.)

2nd Run With Nike+iPod (at 11:58AM)

According to Nike+iPod...
Distance: 1.42 mi (although after workout it said 1.41 mi)
Time: 12:45 min
Pace: 8:55 min/mi
Calories: 139

According to my Cell Phone and Lap Estimates...
6 Laps in Lane 6... 2874 yds
Time: 12:52 min

I recalibrated everything correctly before the run, too.

MY THEORY:
See... to end your Nike+ workout, you have to hit "Menu", then scroll down and then hit "End Workout". For the first run, I hit "Menu" and then it took a couple seconds to scroll down and hit "End Workout." So, I thought that the workout truly ended when you hit "End Workout". But what I think is that it truly ends when you hit "Menu", cuz this time around several seconds before I stopped running, I hit "Menu" (while I was still running) to get ready things ready, and then hit "End Workout" and my cell phone at the same time. There's a huge 7 second difference between the two times.

I think that Nike+ isn't totally accurate, but I don't think that they'd short change me by THAT much. I also don't think that the time functions would be off on either the iPod or the cell phone or both. Also, it's possible that the measurement of the lane comes from the outer part of the lane (today, I was running on the middle part most of the time and then every lap had to step out of my lane for a sec to avoid this thing just sitting in the lane.

I'll figure out how accurate this thing really is on the next run.

1ST RUN OF 2008!

I did my first run of 2008 this morning, and it was my first experience with the Nike+IPod thing. First off, I am really out of shape... my chest felt like it was going to explode before I even completed 1 mile!

I calibrated the thing while running ~.25 miles and then walking ~.25 miles before my ran. I might want to do it again next time.

Overall, it was pretty neat! I'll probably continue logging my results the old way too (for a little while), but the Nike+IPod system is really cool.

Here are my results...
Jan 18, 2008 (10:30AM)
Distance: 1.17-1.18 miles
Time: 11:13
Pace: 9:29-9:28 min/mi
Calories: 115

I did 5 laps in Lane 6 ~2395 yds... not sure which is more accurate. Probably the Nike+IPod thing cuz I had to change lanes a little bit... but then again, when I calibrated it, I'm not sure if I did it correctly (which is why I'm going to re-do the calibration on my next run).

Then again... when I was done with my race, it said 1.17 miles and 9:29 min/mi on my IPod screen... but then why I uploaded the info to the website, it recorded it as 1.18 miles and 9:28 min/mi on the website.

You should sign up for Nike+IPod too! That'll save me some time from blogging here! You'd like the website too... graph's, stats, etc.
